THE CHALLENGES

We took on this challenging project at an office building in Albuquerque with the task of putting in a new tile floor and building a unique water feature insideĀ  their lobby. The building wanted a more contemporary looking floor, replacing the old linoleum with travertine tile.

However, the client also wanted the travertine to draw people into the building, so we utilized two different types of stone, one with a light color, the other dark, and created a decorative “pathway” that lead people into the heart of the lobby.

We were also asked to create a water feature that utilized some unique pieces of rock supplied by the client. We created a pool using locally sourced flagstone, and lined the bottom with local river rock.

PROJECT GOALS

  • Remove old linoleum floor and replace with contemporary travertine tile.
  • Create a way to draw people into the office building lobby using two colors of travertine tile that illustrates a walkway.
  • Redo the restroom in the office building lobby using travertine tile, including the floor and walls.
  • Create a unique water feature using key pieces of stone supplied by the office building.
  • Complete this project during working hours when people are walking through the lobby.
