THE CHALLENGES

This residential client has a recessed dining room floor that they wanted done in wood laminate, while also wanting travertine tile in the living room and family room. What made this project unique is that they wanted rock accents on the steps, fireplace platform, and hearth. The wood laminate and travertine tiles are easy installation projects for us, but being able to find the right color and style of rock as a segue from travertine to wood laminate was a challenge.

To do this, we listened to client carefully, and looked over several styles of rock with them. We eventually settled on a solution, and we began sourcing materials from local stone providers. In the end, what mattered most was what the client wanted, and that’s what drove our entire planning process from start to finish.

PROJECT GOALS

  • Create a balance between wood laminate flooring and travertine tile, using rock accents to segue in between the two.
  • A fireplace also required decoration with flagstone and similar accents.
  • Roman style columns used throughour the residence required close attention to make sure all materials would look pleasing.
  • The client had very specific requirements and desires, and close attention was needed to ensure a positive outcome.
